Two members of The Sunshine Tomorrow band, Brian Holt and Gail Vaubel, played in Jewell Bowling Alley “Axis Lanes†on Friday 25 Jul 08 to a standing room only crowd. The gig was put together by Ray Burkhart of The Barefooted Surfinks to entertain the SHHS Class of 1968’s informal get together. Overall, it went quite well – fans Amy and Nancy said the band sounded great – solid and clean. Ray Burkhart, played bass and made the set list of tunes. The Sunshine Tomorrow at NEH Class of '68 Reunion
The Sunshine Tomorrow 60’s rock band performed on Jul 5th for the Class Reunion for Northeast Hamilton Class of 1968. A warm up/practice gig was performed on 4 Jul at Axis Lanes Bowling Alley bar on in Jewell, IA on 4 Jul 08. Both events were standing room only. A total of 35 60’s hits were performed on each night. The Sunshine Tomorrow to Rehearse 1 – 3 May 2008
The Sunshine Tomorrow members will take on Decatur, Il from 1 – 3 May 08. The weekend will culminate with a “Back to the 60’s†e-invitation only party at the Loren Luppes residence on Sat evening. The event will feature over 20 of The Sunshine Tomorrow’s renditions of those great songs from early rock’n roll through 1971. Brian V has had his 1966 Hofner Beatle bass re-strung and adjusted for that driving and powerful bass and rhythm. Loren has added a new red Nord keyboard to his already impressive arsenal to even more accurately capture those B3 and brass sounds.
Sunshine Tomorrow at SHHS Class of '67 Reunion – Huge!!
June 29th and 30th, 2007 was “Back to the 60’s” at the Jewell Golf Course Clubhouse where the SHHS Class of 1967 held their 40th Class Reunion. Over 45 classmates attended along with an additional 150 spouses and Sunshine Tomorrow followers. The band played two sets of songs from the 60’s for a total of 30 songs. Gail and Amy Return From Alaska

Loren Vaubel
Loren Vaubel passed away on March 25, 2006. Loren S. Vaubel was born July 3, 1920 to John Henry Vaubel and Della (Tempel) Vaubel in Kamrar, Iowa. He married Wilma Ferguson on Dec 14 , 1941. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Charles Carroll in the Atlantic Theater. He farmed and worked at Fort Dodge Community College for many years after the war near Fort Dodge, Iowa. He is survived by his loving wife Wilma, and three children, Sandra, Penny, and Tracey, along with five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in
Kenneth Vaubel
The funeral for Kenneth H. Vaubel, 91, was held on Weds 16 March 2006 at the Kamrar Commnunity Chruch, Kamarar, IA. He died on Sat March 11, 2006 at the Southfield Wellness Center in Webster City, IA. Kenneth served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, was self employed as a carpenter and plumber after the war and then a farmer near Jewell, IA starting in 1955. Surviors include his wife of 64 years, Lorraine (Luppes) Vaubel; children: Cynthia of Topeka, KS , Brian of St Marys, KS, Gail of Beavercreek, OH, and Gretchen Warn of Camdeton, MO; along with
Gail Visits Parents in Jewell, Iowa
Gail visited Kenneth and Lorraine from 22 – 27 Feb 2006. Both were in pretty good health. Highlight of the trip was making headcheese. Gail and Lorraine made two cake pans full and the flavor was absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately the eyeballs remained in the pig head and Gail had to remove prior to cooking.
Battle of the Bands II
Battle of the Bands II occurred on 3 Sept at Gail and Amy’s house. The event opened with the Shakertown Stompers playing about an hour of Dixieland Jazz and standards. Then, from Columbus, OH, The Randy’s took the stage for over two hours! It was a really great time and pictures are in Links on the right under GEV’s Photos. Highlight of the evening was when Brian (57) took the stage and sang “Show Me A Man Thats Got a Good Woman”.
